Schools

All Saints Church has three church schools – Boyne Hill Infant and Nursery School, All Saints Junior School and Altwood School.

As well as visits to the schools by members of the clergy the schools come to church for special services at Christmas and other times of the year and have also been involved in Sunday morning services.

We are pleased to work with all Schools in our Parish as well as our three Church Schools. Other local schools hold services and concerts in the Church. We are also visited by other local schools for services and celebrations, particularly at Christmas and the end of the school year.

Boyne Hill Infant and Nursery School

Boyne Hill is an infant and nursery school. Children stay with us until they transfer to local junior schools at seven years. The majority of our children transfer to All Saints Junior School. We work closely with All Saints and have strong social and academic links.

All Saints Junior School

All Saints Church of England Junior School welcomes children from all backgrounds and traditions. We strive to provide a caring Christian environment where learning is enjoyable for all and everyone is able to develop to their full potential. The school promotes attitudes of mutual respect and responsibility, providing a sound foundation for future life.

It is situated in West Maidenhead on a pleasant, open-plan site and provides excellent opportunities for pupils to reach their own personal targets.

Open the Book

Along with other local churches, members of All Saints Church take part in Open the Book (arranged by the Bible Society).

The Open the Book team attends school assemblies sharing Bible stories in a way that is fun, interactive, and memorable. The teams share a 10–15-minute scripted Bible story, involving the children as much as possible.

Members of our congregation regularly visit All Saints Junior School and Larchfield Primary School for Open the Book.

Are you interested in joining the the team?

You may know that Open the Book is a wonderful way of enabling young children to hear and watch the great Bible stories. Both schools give us a warm welcome. Inevitability we need to find more storytellers. Some of the team have been going into schools for around 15 years!

You might be worried about 'acting' and remembering lines. All the words are prepared by the Open the Book organisation which is now part of the Bible Society. There are no lines to remember, we all have scripts, and acting is responding to what the story says a character does. We have an extensive range of costumes and props and these resources help you to become the character. Even if the 'production' does not go quite as planned in rehearsal, remember that the children only see the story once. They are very encouraging in showing their appreciation.

School staff pick up the theme of the story and follow the story presentation by discussing the issues raised with the children.

All in all, a delightful way to spend 50 minutes.
