Rev. Jeremy Harris
Just by way of a little introduction Carys and myself are from South Wales. I was born in Newport and after leaving school I went to work for the South Wales Electricity Board in Cardiff. I spent 8 years working in the accounts department and during my spare time did youth work with my local church in Rogerstone, Newport, South Wales.
A number of my friends at the time felt that I should be in a job working more directly with people, perhaps as a priest or a teacher. I remember at the same time a young girl from one of the narrowboat holidays I led telling me I should be married with children and be a vicar ( I have since been fortunate to be blessed with a vocation and found a beautiful wife). I went to theological college at St. Stephen's House, Oxford where I had a very happy time making friends, playing sport and in my spare time doing a little study! Following three years in Oxford I returned to the church of SS. Julius and Aaron in Newport as a curate, followed by a time as curate then Team vicar at St. Andrew's, Beaufort, Ebbw Vale. For the last seven years I have been Team Vicar at St. Andrew's Bracknell within the Bracknell Team Ministry.
Carys lived all her early life in Ebbw Vale and was educated at a Welsh speaking school. We were engaged to be married at Cana of Galilee in 2000 during a Pilgrimage with people from Abergavenny and Swansea. We were married a year later at Christchurch, Ebbw Vale on a beautiful sunny day in May.
After our honeymoon in Greece, Carys came to live in Bracknell where we have spent 4 happy years together. On arriving in Bracknell Carys began a career in Psychiatry firstly for a year and a half at Heatherwood, Ascot and then for the last two years the Berkshire health trust have sponsored her to train as a psychiatric nurse. Carys will hopefully graduate next September and would like to return to Heatherwood to nurse.
Our shared interests are walking two demanding but lovable standard poodles called Saskia and Sebastian, sport, watching films, eating chinese food, socialising, and in Carys' case shopping, particularly for shoes! We like all sports but being Welsh people Rugby Union is our favourite and I would love to remind people that the Welsh team are presently the 6 Nations Champions and we were lucky enough to see them win the Grand Slam in Cardiff this year.
We both look forward to making new friends in Maidenhead and sharing the next stage of our lives with you the people of All Saints and those in the community of Boyne Hill.
